Vietnam is said to be the third largest rice exporter in the world and much of it goes out of this very port of Nha Trang. It's highly likely that most of the rice itself comes from rice paddies throughout this Nha Trang area and the farmers here are highly dependent on motorcycles, motorbikes and bicycles for their daily transportation to and from those rice paddies.

I thought for sure the basket of fish and the pail would fall off as she rode away from the ferry/bus station area but no, she had them both firmly secured and she roared off successfully with her load.

What might amaze you even more is that high above this busy harbor there is something special. Yes, a sky train I guess you'd call it. Anyhow, small basket-shaped cubicles carry up to four or so people along on cables that stretch from the mainshore out to a nearby island a few miles away. Maybe it's best described as a ski gondola situation going over the water instead of up a mountain slope.

Many of these boats plying the harbor en route to various outlying islands had life preservers tied on the roof though I didn't notice any anywhere on this particular ferry.
